Further Ideas

Google Docs is useful for far more than just working on school projects with your classmates. Here are three other ideas for how you can use it. How many more can you think of?

#1: Storage Space
You might have already guessed by this point, but Docs is a great place to store your important files in a place other than your computer. While you might not be able to back up everything, it is a good place to keep things like school work and papers that you want to keep, or possibly add to a portfolio of your work. That way, if your computer comes down with a nasty virus, you can still access your work from another computer. As long as you have a Google account, your work is unaffected by any mishaps that may befall your home computer; and the fact that you have so much control over who sees your work and when means that practically, your work is safe.

#2: Collaborative Creative Writing
Who says that the only thing you need to work together on has to do with work or school?! If you're artistically inclined, you can work together on stories, plays, newsletters, drawings, slide shows, you name it. Why not invite your friends to work together on an exquisite corpse, or a skit for the homecoming rally?

#3: Self-Publishing
These days, many people create blogs in order to keep people up to speed with what's going on in their lives. Other people, however, use blogs to self-publish their own creative writing. Did you know that Google Docs allows you to publish your writing to the Internet as a web page? When you have your document open, click on the "share" button in the upper right hand corner, and click on "Publish to web." You can get your writing out there where people can read it in no time.
